Data visualisation of the over 7.5 billion world inhabitantsOpen the interactive
This interactive data visualisation shows the population and its growth of 201 countries from 1960 to 2017. The data is plotted on a world map and the user is free to explore, filter and compare data in an intuitive way. Events of extreme growth or decline of population, such as wars, famines and mass emigration, have been highlighted to add more depth to the information.
The user can filter the map to show only countries within a certain range of minimum and maximum inhabitants. This way he can easily discover that, for instance, China and India together make up around 36% of the world population. Or that only 27 countries have more than 50 million inhabitants, together accounting for 75% of the world population.
